Lottie's Journey,

As most of you know, but for those that don't.... My beautiful wife Lottie lost her brave battle with this awful disease on 18th October 2016. Right till the end she was smiling & joking. Below as you know is the brief story of "Lottie's Journey" through this summer.

I will be carrying on with Lottie's Journey in the future in her memory and will be taking on new challenges to carry on raising money. This challenge has even more meaning now as it's given myself & all involved more determination to conquer the 3 peaks in 24hrs.

In March this year Lottie was diagnosed with cervical cancer. This came as a huge shock to all us all. At the time a biopsy was taken and the outlook was that it was treatable and we were looking at some radiotherapy & some chemo. After a CT & MRI scan it was apparent that the cancer had enlarged & spread to the lung, lymph nodes & hip bone.

Our world fell apart at the time..! It was diagnosed as "stage 4 poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix ( para-aortic lung & bone metastasis left ischium. ) A devastating course of chemo has followed through the summer and intense radio alongside. This has really knocked everything out of her. She has endured every side effect that the gruelling treatment gives out. But she's still smiling and we always remain very positive.

I wanted to organise a challenge that would really test me and some family & close friends. I don't think they realise what they've let themselves in for.. :-)  Equally doing the National 3 Peak Challenge in November is tougher than the summer months as the adverse weather can make things interesting.

After mentioning the challenge to Louisa, my daughter, she thought that the company she works for "Protein World" may like to be involved and cover our expenses. As you can imagine 2 x 17 seater mini busses, fuel,  accommodation for 24 people in Fort William and Snowdonia and guides for the challenge were going to be hard to finance. They have offered us sponsorship to cover these costs. We are extremely grateful for this and it allows us to get as much money into the fund as possible.

After the initial diagnosis at East Surrey we decided to get referred to The Royal Marsden. They have been absolutely fantastic with the all the treatments, consultations, blood transfusions, compassion & advice. We would like to repay some of this to them by raising as much as we can to help with the great work they do and clinical trials that can help to finally find a cure for this awful disease.

I'm giving this link to everyone involved in the challenge and am most grateful for any donation you can make. It will really help the Marsden and keep our spirits up as we attempt the highest peaks in England, Scotland & Wales.

Best wishes Andy xx
