Story
update 27 April 2009
Thank you to all who agreed to sponsor me .
I got round in nine minute miles as planned and finished in 3 hours 55 minutes. Although my training meant I could cope with the pace, it was quite difficult, as the course was very crowded and there were a lot of slower and slowing runners to get past. My pacing group gradually broke up from about 30 at the start to only a handful by the end but they managed most of the way. I met up with my wife Ros, doing the pacing job from the blue start, at 14 miles when we heard each other cheering on a runner we knew approaching 22 miles on the other side of the road. The weather was warm but I cooled down by going through all four showers on the course and splashing myself with half my drinking water.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I am running the Flora London marathon on Sunday 26 April 2009 and am raising sponsorship for Diabetes UK, which is the Mayor of Southwark's nominated charity for 2008/09.
I will be acting as pacer for Runner's World magazine and Adidas, running at 9 minute mile (4 hour) pace and carrying a 9 minute mile stick. This is my 15th London marathon and 7th as pacer and I have been training hard to make sure I get to the finish on time.
So please sponsor me now! Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Diabetes UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
