Severn Hospice provides specialist care and emotional support for families in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales living with an incurable illness. All our care is provided for free, but it is not without cost - we have to raise £2 for every £3 we spend. It's because you care that we can.

Story

Hello guys,

As you know Rach and I are not the most athletic people in the world but that didn't stop us having the great idea of entering the 2009 London Triathlon.

To start with we though about doing the sprint distance

700m swim

20km bike ride

5km run

However we decided that if we are going to drown in the Thames then we might as well do it properly. Therefore Olympic distance it is.

1500m Swim

40km bike ride

10km run

This really isn't going to be a walk in the park, especially as the last time we swam was at school, and I don't think I have ever run unless i was being chased.

We are trying to raise as much money as possible for Severn Hospice, which is a really good charity who does all in its power to alleviate pain both physical and emotional, for patients with life threatening illnesses and their families.

The charity is close to my heart as they did all they could for my grandad. They need as much money as possible and even though if we raise £1000 it is only enough to keep them going for 1/5th of day every penny counts.
