Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 15/16 September I am entered into a 24 hour cycle race around Brands Hatch.  Those of you that know me, are well aware that cycling, what most sensible people consider distances that should only be contemplated in a car, is something I will merrily checkoff with delight.  As a result, in the past I’ve never asked for sponsorship, as ultimately I was doing it because I wanted to and knew I was going to thoroughly enjoy it.

On this occasion I am fairly certain that there are going to be several hours, probably in darkness, when I will regret this undertaking and seriously consider stepping off my bike and giving up.  To motivate myself and feel slightly less guilty about leaving my wife to deal with our children singlehandedly, I have decided to ride in support of Cancer Research UK.

To make the most of the challenge, in case riding for 24 hours was not enough, I have decided to compete solo, against teams of 2, 4, 6 & 8 who will be riding in relay.  The goal is to ride over 500km (just over 300 miles) in the time period and my only hope is that I won’t finish last.

If you would be willing to sponsor me, if only to see me try to walk when I return to work on  the Monday, I have setup a Just Giving page and any donations would be gratefully received.
