Hello my name is Angie Wilson and I am no Scottish Spring Chicken! I'm one of a number of helpers at the LFN Digestive Book Exchange and other events which raise funds here in France for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

I first became involved with LFN events 3 or 4 years ago through the book exchanges in Olonzac and started going along to help-out on a monthly basis with some friends, eventually getting more involved with other fund raising events for the R.B.L.

Now, both my husband Allan and I enjoy being involved with events that Pat and Norman organise to raise awareness and money for the R.B.L. So, when it was mentioned the possibility of a sky dive I jumped at it (sorry).

There is another reason I will do this, it's because I can. 2 years ago when I was 65 I was told I had colon cancer and would need surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy. I had to spend a bit of time in hospital and during that time I was supported by Cancer Support  France. (CFS) I enjoyed doing a sponsored walk for C.S.F. in September last year which helped raise cash and more awareness for that organization.

Whilst I was in hospital Norman (LFN) heard about my situation and he did everything he could to help. This involved asking the members of the book exchange for the loan of a DVD player and a load of DVD's and a great supply of English Chocolate, Orange Juice and biscuits and most importantly visits which made me feel part of the outside world again.

Being in hospital in France with a very limited amount of French is a bit daunting to say the least, so visitors were really important and with his Scouse sense of humour he made me laugh. Doing this sky jump gives me a chance to say thank you to LFN and his team and it's good to give something back.
