Flora London Marathon 2009
As most of you know in April 2007 I ran in the Flora London Marathon and raised almost £800 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
This April I will be running it again and my chosen charity is ‘The Oncology Department’ at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
The reason for this is because my son’s best friend from school and football Jak Crump Aged 12 has a story to tell..
In May 2007 Jak was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, he then had 7 ½ hours of surgery on 15th May in an attempt to remove as much of the tumour as possible. This led to a slow recovery process where he had to learn to eat and walk again. He had 6 weeks of intensive Radio Therapy followed by Chemotherapy up until July 2008. Most of his treatment was carried out at the Oncology Unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. All of his treatment has finished now, it will be another 3 years before his is given the ‘all clear’, but he is doing very well.
