BREAKING NEWS - ANN HILL IS ABSEILING..............PLEASE SPONSOR ME!!

On Saturday 8 May at the Flying Man Festival in Pocklington I am going to abseil 100 feet down the tower of All Saints' Church in Pocklington to raise money for our church in Nunburnholme.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION....

I first abseiled, as a teenager, down a rock face and enjoyed the experience.  Little did I know then that 40 years later I would have a second opportunity to abseil , which will be the tower at Pocklington church!  Yes, it is the church where John and I married back in 1973.

My family are slightly surprised but happy to support me.  Ruth was concerned as to whether the parapet was crumbly!!  The Flying Man, Thomas Pelling, did not abseil in 1733 he used a rope to travel from the top of the church tower to The Star Inn in the Market Place and unfortunately fell to his death.....hopefully I will be more successful as I have no intention of trying to fly!!

I have chosen to support the beautiful St James' Church in our tiny village of Nunburnholme, in my retirement I am now a member of the Parochial Church Council.  I hope that we will make a difference, by using the money raised from you to help maintain the fabric of this historic building which is a central part of our community.
