Story

Would you be kind enough to lend me a moment of your time??!! It's about a new addition to my family - my cousin's son - little George Bailey (pictured), who is only 4 months old, but has already endured more challenges than most of us face in a lifetime. He was born without a functional immune system and lives in hospital, where he is kept in isolation and fed through a tube in his stomach. At just sixteen weeks old he has already undergone multiple operations and has to put up with the discomfort and side-effects of medications and treatments such as chemotherapy.
My uncle recently wrote to me explaining the situation and said; "I guess you still have to remember there's an awful lot of humans on this planet who are even worse off, but i don't know what George did to deserve all this" and I got so choked up I decided I had to do something to help.
In a small gesture of support I'm now trying to raise funds for the 'Bubble Foundation' - the hospital unit that looks after baby George. More importantly I want to show my cousin and his wife that people as far afield as Australia are thinking of them - and everything they are going through. I know how scary it is when Oscar gets sick. I can't imagine what this must be like for George's parents and grandparents.
I've never done a fundraising event before, so I hope you won't mind supporting myself Rory, Oscar and Bump as we attempt to
'Run Melbourne' on Sunday July 18th - Rory is running the 10k while Oscar, Bump and I are doing the 5k walk. To make it more interesting we will be creating a continuous cloud of bubbles as we go, walking under the banner 'Bubbles for George' and selling 'bubble wands' to raise money for the unit.
A bone marrow transplant may save George's life, but treatment is complicated and there are no guarantees - all his family really knows is that there is a long way to go before he has any hope of getting better.

Please support me by making a donation in UK pounds (however small) here, or by contacting me in Melbourne and buying an amazing mega bubble wand (also pictured) for just 5 bucks (RRP/Big W $6.99) - all proceeds going directly to the Bubble Foundation.
