Race for Life Pretty Muddy Hammersmith 2014 10:00am · 27 July 2014 ·

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

My beautiful mummy suffered excruciatingly with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (also known as PNETs) for over a year before she left us to become an angel up in heaven!

To see someone you love so deeply be in so much pain is indescribable. The only way we can BEAT cancer, and show this bully who's really in charge is to rally against it and fund research.

PNETs can be caused by a genetic mutation called the MEN1 gene. MEN1 is a hereditary syndrome that causes multiple tumors  About 30-75% of people with MEN1 will develop pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

People who have PNETs caught at Stage 3 currently have a 3% survival rate. I don't think I need to say anymore.

I'm running a 5k obstacle course in Hammersmith... those who know me know that the last time I ran was in secondary school pe... so this is not something that comes naturally to me!

The only way we can beat cancer and save the mummys, the daddys, the children and the siblings from the unbearable pain of losing their family and friends to this bully of a disease is by funding research.

Events like Race for Life are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating ALL types of cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create a force that cancer can't ignore.

Gift Aid it!
