Please help us to finish our Anniversary Walk path.

To mark the 50th Anniversary of Peterhouse during 2016, we planted 50 new plants, trees and shrubs. Residents, relatives and visitors from the local community can now follow the Anniversary Map and take the Anniversary Walk around the grounds to view the 50 new items, which all feature a blue marker. The only problem is... the last half of the walk is laid to grass and its tricky for people with wheelchairs or walkers to manage it.

What do we want to do with donations? We want to finish the path all the way round so that it is sturdy for people who have trouble walking. We would be most grateful for any donations, no matter how small. 

Award-Winning Environmental Project: '50 Plants for 50 Years' was a fully inclusive project, funded by donations from residents, relatives, volunteers and suppliers. Their ideas and requests were put into action, as well as our intention to develop a new Managed Grassland Habitat which attracts endangered species such as bees. 

As well as a positive impact on the environment, the project has benefited many of our residents both physically and psychologically who have been encouraged to enjoy the grounds and take the Anniversary Walk. This is potentially a project which other care homes could try.

This achievement was formally recognised on the 11th November 2016 when Peterhouse were awarded a prestigious Green Apple Award at the House of Commons. The Green Organisation Awards represent environmental best practice internationally and we were named the Green Champion for NHS and Health Industries.
