Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This time me and my friend Heather are trying raise £1000 for The Redbridge branch of Samaritans where we need every penny we can get so that we can continue to answer the phones to the 16000 callers we get each year, reply to emails and receive face to face visits and give emotional support to anybody experiencing feelings of distress or despair including those that may lead to suicide.
To do this we shall be attempting 3 challenges.
1. A 27 mile walk through the Bedfordshire countryside.
Tick. We did this in record (ha ha) time of 10 hours and 20 minutes. It was a fantastic day and a well planned and beautiful route through the Bedfordshire countryside; from sunny, high tor to cool, chalk spring glades. We were quite tired at the end and the last few miles seemed to last for an eternity, particularly as tired legs and burst blisters were slowing the pace some. But it was all worthwhile when the organisers and fellow walkers clapped and cheered us home. Everyone was lovely and supportive. An experience we hope to repeat next year as soon as the memory of the sore feet wears off.
2. A 15000ft skydive in Linconshire.
Woohoo!! After 2 failed attempts it was third time lucky and we finally made it up to 15000ft. We were told it we could not get a more perfect day. It was warm, with not much wind and of course beautiful blue skies. It was such an amazing experience and over much too quickly. The freefall bit was exhilarating to say the least and after the parachute opened it was surreal, hanging there suspended in air with the ground visible beneath my feet. It is something we definitely want to repeat.
3. A high speed Zap Cat race off the coast of Southampton.
The third and final event will not take place until the end of August.
From all of the 53 volunteers at Redbridge we thank you very very much for your generosity during these financially difficult times.
So please dig deep and donate now.
