The plan is, as far as is possible, to retrace the footsteps of Hannibal and his band of 30 Elephants as they crossed the Alps for their attack on Rome - though obviously we won't be wearing sandals.

This challenge winds through three European countries in 3 days. France, Italy, and finally Switzerland.This trek will take us through some of the best scenery in Europe, if not the world, crossing two high alpine passes and experiencing three distinct cultures.

It will be physically hard work, reaching a maximum altitude of 2537m (8321ft), crossing 24 miles, though thank goodness we are doing it in the summer months not the winter like Hannibal.
