Aspire - Aspire Channel Swim 2011 · 4 December 2011 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

This is happens what happens if the start of the academic years is still weeks away and I have too much time. I take up stupid challenges.

The goal is to swim the Channel (the 22 miles of water seperating England and France) in 12 weeks. For my convenience I am doing it in the local pool and at a rate of about 1 mile (~ 1,6 km) per day.

I started on the 12th of September and so far swom 120 lengths of 25 m = 3 km.

If you donate you not only support people with spinal cord injury (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinal_cord_injury) but also help me get a free Aspire Channel Swim towel. :-)
