The mission of Adara Development (UK) (formerly The ISIS Foundation) is to work side by side with communities and children in remote areas in Nepal and Uganda to improve their lives through health, education and other development projects. www.adaragroup.org Charity Registration No 1098152

Story

In support of the ISIS charity's good work at a rural hospital and HIV orphanage in Uganda, the Aspen Financial & Political Risk Team have, under duress in some cases, committed to humiliate themselves and/or endure some pain to raise funds. The date will be Sept 11 at 9am in the board room at Aspen. Spectators who have sponsored, and giggling, are encouraged, especially because Bernie and co have to present to the board that day…..

If £1,000 is raised:
Bernie de Haldevang, Kade Spears, and Tom Ashworth will have their hair shaved by a number one razor (2 mm length).

If £3,000 is raised:
Bernie and Kade will have their heads wet shaved.

Carolyn Thomas and Holly Din will have their entire eyebrows shaved off.

If £5,000 is raised:
Alan Cheung, Rob Preston and David Lineham will have a half leg wax. Ouch.

If 7,500 is raised:

Alan, Rob and David will have a full leg wax

If £10,000 is raised:
Kade will also lose the beard!

If £15,000 is raised:
Bernie has reluctantly committed to having his eyebrows shaved off, as well.

If £20,000 is raised:
Bernie has agreed to have his legs waxed, too (3/4's)

There will be drinks, a selection of pastries, and bacon and sausage sandwiches at the event. All who have sponsored will be welcome.

The ISIS charity is very deserving and we hope that you will be able to give generously. Some information on it and on the the small amounts of money it will take to make a difference is attached below at the bottom of this e-mail.

Just to give you an idea of how far cash will go in Uganda…

US$7 - pays for one normal delivery of a child

US$36 - pays for one C-section, which will help prevent HIV passing from mother to newborn

US$50 - provides two HIV/AIDS patients with nutritional support for a year to increase the chances of them being able to access anti-retrovirals and enable them to live longer

US$70 - supports the costs of school fees, tuition, uniforms, school lunches and transport to and from school for one whole year for one HIV/AIDS orphan

US$250 - Will pay for capacity building costs of the nurses who work in the wards and thus further improve quality of service to the people of Kiwoko

US$500 - Supports six months emergency transport to major hospitals for babies needing emergency treatment.

US$1500 - Will pay for the costs of nappies for one whole year in the neo-natal ward

So anything that you are able to give however small will really make a difference.

Please note that the generous donation of £2,043.75 is from those from Aspen who have just returned from visiting the hospital in Uganda (Julie Benstead, Carolyn Thomas, Showvanik Das Gupta, Tom Brennan, Aidil Arens, and Jacqueline Lamar). This money will be used to purchase a machine to assist in administering correct doses of drugs to premature babies, which the doctors at the hospital are very excited about!
