Story

Just imagine...Your lost, tired and cold. It's getting dark and the rain and wind are picking up.It's been a couple of hours now since you twisted your ankle...maybe it's even fractured!!. All you know is ..it really hurts. It seems like ages since your mate left to get help. It's starting to get scarey.Your not sure you can make it through the night. Then out of the darkness you hear a shout....Before you know it several figures in red appear out of the gloom....The Mountain Rescue Team have arrived!!. " Hi my names Jim...how are you doing" . You breath a huge sigh of relief and before you know it your safely tucked up in a nice warm bag and your ankle has been splinted .The nice medical guy has even given you some medication to help with the pain. He's also said that that him and his mates will be carrying you a wee way on this comfy stretcher and that the Helicopter is on it's way to whisk you off to Hospital. Everything seems to happen in a flash and before you know it you are safely tucked up in a Hospital bed. Safe at last.

The Assynt Mountain Rescue team are all unpaid volunteers. We provide a vital service 24 hrs a day 365 days a week.We are faced with many challenges not least in having to raise funds for the equipment and training needed to provide a professional rescue resource for the public. Without your help and support we simply could not function.

Ever up for a challenge Assynt Mountain Rescue have really taken on a massive challenge. We will attempt to climb over 29,000 ft of ascent in 24hrs . On 23/24th June we will attempt to walk through the night and 5 teams of two ,backed by the rest of the team members will accumulate the equivalent of Everest .You don't have to be mad to join Assynt Mountain Rescue team...but it certainly helps.
