Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Austin's JustGiving page.

Most of you are aware that Austin was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder - PTEN Harmatoma Tumour Syndrome. This condition means that Austin has, among other things,  severe learning difficulties and is unable to speak. His condition means that while other children of his age are playing, making friends and going to school, Austin is having intense therapy in order to learn and accomplish basic daily tasks – abilities that most of us take for granted.

In April, we won a court case against the Local Authority to have Austin home schooled. We were thrilled with the decision as it means that Austin now has 121 therapy for 6hours per day as well as daily Speech and Language therapy, weekly Occupational Therapy, weekly Physio Therapy and weekly Aqua Physio, which he loves!

With this therapy for the past 10 months Austin has made brilliant progress and now can say 5 or 6 words such as iPad (very important!), Daddy, Mummy, Up and More. He can also walk for much longer than before and he has started to use a knife and fork. He is also making great progress with toilet training.

In order for Austin to have the best learning environment we are converting one of the rooms in our house. We would like it to be completely kitted out with all the equipment he needs. Our main goal is to be able to install a Ceiling Swing Suspension System. This will give Austin a much better quality of life and we know he will love it. Please take a look at the photos at the bottom of the page of Austin enjoying something similar at his OT sessions.

So if you are running a 5k or 10k, walking up Machu Pichu or cycling the London to Brighton - please think of Austin. Please use this Justgiving page for your sponsorship. We can't thank you enough for your support.

We thank you in advance for taking the time to read this appeal.
