Running the 24. International WACHAUmarathon 2023

24. International WACHAUmarathon 2023 · 17 September 2023
Hello everyone!
I am excited to announce that I am taking on a challenge that is both physically and mentally demanding: running my first marathon! It's something that has been on my "things to accomplish before I turn 30" bucket list. Still, I never committed to it, so this year, at the age of 38, I have decided to make amends and I'm training for the 2023 Wachau International Marathon in Austria.
I want this marathon to be more than just a personal challenge, so I also aim to raise funds for Action for A-T - a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting research that will accelerate the discovery of a cure or therapies for Louis-Bar syndrome (Ataxia-telangiectasia).
I have a personal connection to this cause as my two nieces - Isla and Louisa, both just five years old, have been diagnosed with Louis-Bar syndrome. This has motivated me to get involved and help find a cure for this disease. I have been donating to a non-profit organization every month since the diagnosis and I am running this marathon for my nieces, all the children affected by this disease, and their families.
Louis-Bar syndrome, Ataxia-telangiectasia, or “A-T,” is a progressive, degenerative disease that causes loss of muscle control and balance, cancer, lung disease, and immune system problems in children and young adults, shortening their lives. A-T is presently incurable and unrelenting.
I would be grateful for your support; any amount you can give would make a difference. The funds I raise will be invested in groundbreaking medical research to help find a cure or treatment. With your donation, you can be the hope for every child battling A-T.
Just 100 EUR could pay for a whole day of A-T research by a post-doctoral researcher. I appreciate your support and I hope that together, we can make a positive impact.
