Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My son Mason was stillborn at 26 weeks.
on the 5.7.15 my partner and I lost our baby boy Mason after 26 weeks of a low risk, healthy pregnancy. This would have been our first child and the devastation that hit our lives on that day is indescribable.
After a routine check up, Mason's heartbeat could not be found. 2 days later I was induced and had to naturally deliver Mason, the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. We got to spend a few days with him, until it was time to say goodbye. The heartbreak of giving birth to a baby and never bringing them home is a feeling I will never be able to describe. After a post mortem, nothing appeared to have caused his sudden death, so it’ll always remain a question mark as to what happened to our beautiful son.
Throughout this ordeal, SANDS have helped me realise I am not alone. I have had support from other families in my position, one I never thought I would be in. The death of a child leaves a hole in your heart for a lifetime, and although it'll never go, the pain can be softened knowing that you are not alone.
SANDS also provide research to find out WHY stillbirths are still occuring. We simply cannot accept that these things just 'happen' and live with it. By helping raise money, SANDS can conduct more research and help lower the number of stillbirths.
Baby Mason may never see the light of day, but he will always be in my heart. I just hope that with enough funds and research we can prevent this from happening to others in the future.
