At 31 weeks pregnant during a routine growth scan, we were told the 3 words no soon-to-be parents ever think or imagine they are ever going to hear. "There's no heartbeat" in 5 seconds our lives had been turned upside down. The shock on my consultant's face is a look I will never forget. How was my little baby gone? The next few hours were a surreal blur of shock and denial.

That day 8th October 2019 at 5.26pm our little baby was born sleeping. Perfectly formed, perfectly still. A beautiful little boy, so peaceful and innocent. Perfect little Phoenix.

Without Sands we wouldn't have the memories of the 2 days we spent with him; holding him, having private family time, reading to him, taking photos, having hand and footprints done, bathing and dressing him.

As well as emotional support and research, donations of memory boxes, specialist training for midwives, funding for cold cots (to name just a few of the ways Sands support families) mean that families who go through the indescribable heart ache of baby loss can create vital and precious memories just as families do for any baby. My 'Always Loved, Never Forgotten' box is something that will be treasured forever.

I don't have a baby to cherish and nurture but the one thing I can do is help raise money so research can be done, I have invaluable memories, none of which would be possible without Sands.

For our little Phoenix, we want to raise money for this crucial charity. We hope you never have to feel this heartbreak, help us honour our beautiful boy for other families in their darkest time.
