Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Manchester Half Marathon for Bloodwise as I have a rare blood cancer called Polycythaemia Vera. I want others to receive the great support and care I have and to create more awareness around these rare blood cancers.
I was diagnosed early 2013 after discovering I had 2 blood clots. I spent around 2 years attending different hospitals on different types of medication to finally find great care at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Leeds St James. This is such a rare cancer that each year 2 in 100,000 people will be diagnosed with it. Majority of the time the people diagnosed are usually over 65 - not young like myself! Symptoms include aching bones and limbs, itchy skin, enlarged spleen, dizzy spells and blood clotting to name but a few! I had more or less every symptom and I still have a couple.
I am very well and healthy now but I know Bloodwise supports those that are not so lucky!
