Story
Hi There
It does not seem all that long ago that we were asking you all for money to inspire us to walk up those mountains!
Well I am glad to say that we did make it back down and have now taken on a challenge of a lifetime - to run the London Marathon 2010 for the Meningitis Trust.
Meningitis is a life-threatening disease that can kill within hours and can affect anyone at anytime, as we found out. Looking at Ruby today, who is so beautiful, lively and has a smile that can light up a room, you would of never of known that 2 years ago we were sitting at her bedside, praying that she would wake up, regardless of what damage their might be. The road to recovery has been a long one, with trips to hospitals and 2 operations so far, but one that we can thankfully say that we are all making together. We are definitely the lucky ones, but some are not so lucky.
The Meningitis Trust was there for us as a family when Ruby came out of hospital. The 24 hour nurse led helpline (0800 028 1828) was like our saviour! They also offer counselling, home visits, financial support grants, respite care and so much more. They are the UK's longest established Meningitis charity and are completely reliant on voluntary donations to continue its work.
We understand that it is a tough time financially for everyone, so no matter how small or large your donation, it will all make a difference! (And the more we raise, the more inspired we will be to go out there and train, even if we have had sleepless nights!!!)
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
We will keep you all posted on our progress.
Thanks to you all for your support.
Love
Sue and Mandy
