Story

So; where do we start?

Basically, we have decided to run in all the 'Bupa Great Run' events over a rolling 12 month period, starting with the Great Manchester Run (which we completed in May this year) and finishing with the Great Manchester Run 2011. There are 7 events in total (so 8 runs including the Great Manchester Run twice); 6 nr 10km runs and 2 half marathons taking us to various locations around the country in the process. Oh yeah - the best bit. We are both running dressed in full Bananaman outfits.

Our Bupa Great Run racing programme is:

1)      16th May, Great Run

Completed in 52 minutes, 30 seconds

2)      18th July, Great North 10k ()

Completed in 50 minutes, 33 seconds

3)      5th September, Great Run ()

Completed - time TBC

4)      19th September, Great North Run ( / )

5)      24th October, Great South Run (Southsea / )

6)      , Great Winter Run (Edinburgh)

7)      May 2011, Great Run

8)      May 2011, Great Run

We are looking to raise as much money as we can through this ridiculous challenge for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (LLR, formally Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research), who’s fundraising arm is called the Banana Army (there is a link to the outfits!). This charity is very close to my heart having lost my Dad to Leukaemia in 2002. Since then I have completed a few events to raise money (which many of you out there very kindly sponsored me for) - including some dressed as my alter ego – Bananaman.

Now there are two of us (Bananaman 2; aka Ste Bell), we are looking to both raise the profile of this charity and raise some much needed funding to help support the fantastic work they do. The charity was started in 1960 following the death of a little girl, Susan Eastwood, aged 6, from leukaemia. Her parents were determined to make something positive come out of their personal tragedy and started fundraising for research that would find a cure for leukaemia. Since then, the charity (which receives no government funding) has grown incredibly thanks to thousands of supporters across the . 50 years on, more and more people are surviving blood cancers including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

We really appreciate your support and any sponsorship you can spare will be very gratefully received.

Thank you,

Bananaman 1 and Bananaman 2 (aka Steve P and Ste B).
