Story
Tomorrow, 26 April, a few of our NWW Ramblers Group were
going to take part in the Long-Distance Walking Association (LDWA) Pewsey Downs Around however, that all got cancelled and now what to do with the day as not to live through another ‘Groundhog Day’?
Taking up the Ramblers challenge for all ramblers to take part in the #TwoPointSixChallenge to help protect the places we love to walk - I will dedicate the 26 April to doing 26,000 steps around the local area.
Now what does 26,000 steps look like for a ‘Hobbit’ with a
stride length of 30 inches. Well, it’s a total of 780,000 inches and using the trusty slide rule I see that comes out at 12.3 miles.
So tomorrow I will walk both the Corsham Red and Blue
Heritage Trails that we have developed that gives a total of 9.5 miles and then add an additional loop around Corsham Park.
As the Ramblers is the UK's walking charity, I know that walking transforms lives, which is why the Ramblers work tirelessly to ensure we continue to improve walkers' rights and protect the places we all love to go walking. Thanks to their generous supporters, they have successfully campaigned to open up some of the most beautiful parts of Britain. Through group led walks, their staff and volunteers have helped thousands of people across the UK to improve their physical and mental health by connecting with nature and green spaces.
Thanks for supporting my 26,000 Step Challenge
