Story

Three girls, Melody (age 10 ), Harmony (9 yr) and Ruby Wood (11 yr), are each planning to take-on the challenge of climbing the height of one of the World's most famous rock climbs - The Nose on El Capitan in California.

This 3000 ft route takes on average five days to climb but this trio have only got 12 hours in which to succeed.

They won't be flying to America for the daunting task ahead of them. Instead, they'll have to make the arduous approach on foot from the Beacon Climbing Wall car park to the start of the climbing. At least bad weather shouldn't be too much of a problem.

They'll be lead climbing, top-roping and using the auto-belay routes to reach their goal. Along the way they'll be taking rests on a portaledge big wall style.

Inspiration for the project came from watching the UK premiere of the award winning film, Yosemite Uprising, that featured The Nose. If you're unaware of the climb's history then the reason girls are sporting a 'hippy vibe ' in their profile pic is as a nod to the famous photo of Billy Westbay, Jim Bridwell, and John Long after their first one-day ascent of the climb in 1975 (see gallery pic).

"This could be a repeat of the recent Dawn Wall media frenzy in capturing the public's attention." said Leo Houlding.

It's all to raise money for Sport Relief so the girls would be very grateful for your donation. Beacon Climbing Centre and DMM are kindly supporting this event.
