Teddy and Piper-Rose were both born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). Basically this means that they only have half a working heart. Our families met at GOSH and have supported each other through the palliative surgeries needed for Teddy and Piper-Rose to survive. 

The surgeries aren't a cure, but hospitals like GOSH work so hard to give children like ours a shot at normal life. Thirty years ago there was no treatment for HLHS and it is only with continued support that Great Ormond Street can continue to develop the pioneering treatment that they are world famous for.  

Teddy and Pipe-Rose have both recently had their third open heart surgery which has made them less breathless and given them more energy. They, along with the rest of us, are running the Santa Dash to help other sick children get the treatment that they need.
