The Jack and Ada Beattie Foundation - Fighting Corners · 4 October 2012 ·

The Jack and Ada Beattie Foundation supports victims of injustice and inequality in the Midlands and London. “KNOWING THAT SOMEONE IS FIGHTING YOUR CORNER IS HALF THE BATTLE WON.” http://beattiefoundation.com

Story

I set up The Jack And Ada Beattie Foundation in honour and memory of my parents. It will adhere to their life-long held principles of fair play, care for the vulnerable and getting the job done. It will fight against inequality in all its forms (when you come from a family of TEN, you soon learn the importance of equality...) and it will probably bear the Beattie family trait of defiance in the face of adversity.

We don't aim to eradicate global poverty, or tackle climate change by next Wednesday. We'll be fighting much smaller, but equally important battles. Backing achievable ambitions. Assisting the vulnerable and marginalised of the Midlands and London, by awarding grants of between £500 and £2,000 to individuals and organisations whose aspirations match the spirit of Jack and Ada. From continuing to support our D-Day Veterans to the Gift of Flight for those with disabilities and putting poor kids through media studies at University.
We'd like our support to be as emotional as it is financial, hence our mission statement:
“KNOWING THAT SOMEONE IS FIGHTING YOUR CORNER
IS HALF THE BATTLE WON.”

Our Foundation will fight the corner of those we see as less able to defend themselves, and support the flight of ambition for whom it is prevented.
We'll do what Jack and Ada would have done!
