Morrisons Great Manchester Run 2015 · 10 May 2015 ·

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Thank you for supporting me as I participate in the Great Manchester Run!

Those of you who know me will know I'm not a runner, I can count the amount of times I've chosen to go running before this year on one hand. In fact I've never particularly liked exercising, it's hard, and I'm embarrassed by my lack of fitness and therefore I've just put it to the back of my mind. But being active is important and should be a key part of everyone's lifestyle, and if I can prove to myself I can do this and make some money for a charity my family have supported for years through doing the Keswick to Barrow 40 mile walk (something that scares me much more than a 10k run!) then all the better.

I've really tried to train as much as possible, and I've surprised myself with how far I've come from the very first training run back in January where I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest (yes, the irony that I'm supporting a heart charity when I've put mine under a lot of strain!). Though it's not been easy and it's still not, I've clocked up a lot of miles so far and I've got only a few weeks left to run a few more!

It really doesn't matter to me how much you give, it's honestly true that any amount will be gratefully received by both myself and CRY, and please check out their website on the link if you want to learn more.

Thank you again for your support! :D x
