We create a home and education to improve the lives of children in Nepal

Story

Just a quick update :
We raised over 6,000 pounds for the Nagajuna Orphanage in Pokhara, Nepal - we volunteered at the school for 2 weeks in July. I thought I would update everyone on our trip and show you where your kind donations are being spent.
These last two weeks have flown by and I have enjoyed every moment that I spent with the wonderful Nagajuna family. These children are the happiest, kindest and most polite children I’ve met. Nagajuna school is more than just a school for many of these children, it’s their home, their education and most importantly it’s their family. The teachers who work at the school are special, they are more than just teachers, they are the ones who show the children what is right and wrong, who support the children through sad times and who put them to bed at night. These things are so important for a child to have and are not things that your average teacher would do. They treat these children as if they were their own, I can see how appreciative the children are to have them and I admire what they do. The best part about the visit was being able to buy the children some new things that they would never usually have been able to have and seeing their faces as they received these. They were so happy to receive their brand new slide, books, stationary, sanitary products and kitchen utensils. Things like sanitary products are a necessity to us however they are seen as a luxury by the older girls at Nagajuna so it was so nice to able to give them something that, in my opinion, is so important for young girls to have. I know when I was growing up I always had my mum there to talk about girly things. However, some of the older girls have sadly not had that luxury so I wanted to share with them my knowledge about puberty and growing up. This really encouraged them to talk to one another about things rather than be embarrassed or worried. We made a poster with key information to put in the girls’ room. I have also enjoyed teaching the young ones new nursery rhymes and some basic maths and English. I want to say thank you from the children and from Amber and I to everyone who helped us in any kind of way to raise funds for this school. Without your support, the school wouldn’t be able to have the wonderful teachers that they do and the kids wouldn’t have been able to have the lovely new things that we bought. I hope everyone continues their support and generosity towards the Nagajuna school. Another big thank you goes to Yeshi and his lovely family for having us at the Nagajuna school and for looking after Amber and I throughout our time in Nepal, we really appreciate it.
I will continue my support for the Nagajuna school and would really appreciate support from anyone else who wants to help. Any donation will make an amazing difference to these kids’ lives
Rebecca.
