Story
To all my wonderful sponsors!
Well it's finally over! And it's fair to say that, ironically, the forecast was wrong and the cool cloudy weather stayed at bay whilst London baked!
It was a reported 25 degrees on the street - helped by all those hot, sweaty bodies (nice!) and blazing sunshine too - so pretty tough conditions to run in. The knee injury that i'd been battling since the New Year kicked in just before the half way point which was all good fun - hmm! The last few miles were the toughest by far though - and it was just the thought of all your fabulous, generous support that kept me going. I finished in 4.46 (although I was so out of it i didn't even realised i'd finished!) which was not what i was aiming for but am proud of myself for not stopping or walking - and giving myself a benchmark for next year! Yahoo!
Sunday was undoubtedly an incredibly tough challenge - perhaps even more mentally than physically. But i remember passing a chap in a wheelchair at about 20 miles and thinking how incredibly lucky i was to be able to take part at all.
Thank you so much for your support - some of you i've never even met (but very much hope to one day)! It's meant so much to me to do this and also to know that together we've been able to help this amazing charity.
Just Great North and Great South to do now in the autumn to complete the power of three - next year it's time to climb a mountain i think...!
I'll keep you posted!
Thank you so much again and lots of love,
B x (aching, sore but smiling!)
