Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

Belfast Citi FC took on a team of former Irish League players lead by former Glentoran, Cardiff, & Port Vale player Paul Millar in a charity football match at Q.U.B, Dub Lane, Upper Malone Rd, Belfast on Sunday 16th September 2007 in aid of MenCap.

The Citi team lost 3-2 in a high quality game despite the typical Belfast weather conditions.

Match Highlights: Neil Lacy and Eoin Bradley scored for Citi; Barry Miller was 'loaned' to the Irish League XI, and promptly scored a goal for them.  The Irish League XI was actually a XII for the whole of the first half, but nobody noticed.  The score certainly wasn't embarrassing, and it could of been so different if our captain Barry hadn't decided to play for the opposition, our Manager Colin hadn't missed the bus and therefore couldn't deliver an inspirational team talk, Ross wasn't so hung over, Grant hadn't cried off with nothing more than a shaving cut, and they'd fielded only 11 players.

Mencap is the leading UK learning disability charity.  About 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability.  With 200 babies born each week with a learning disability in the UK, this figure is increasing.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mencap will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you, so please click for giftaid.
