Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Northern Ireland continues to have the highest rate of suicide in the UK.

  • In 2014 there were 14,678 deaths registered in NI
  • Of these, 268 were suicides, a decrease from 303 in 2013.
  • Just over three quarters (207) of suicides in 2014 were men

Every year many thousands more attempt or contemplate suicide, harm themselves or suffer alone, afraid to speak openly about how they are feeling.

At Belmore Dental we believe that many suicides can be prevented and we want to help build a future where people can talk about their mental health openly, access services appropriate to their needs and have the skills and knowledge to maintain positive mental health.

This is why we have decided to support AWARE NI. Aware has been working since 1996 to support all those in Northern Ireland affected by depression.

They have an established network of 22 support groups in rural and urban areas across the country, which are run by talented volunteers.

AWARE is the only charity in Northern Ireland that works exclusively for those with depression and reply on their dedicated and caring volunteers who run their support groups and helplines,
