Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

On the 17th of July 2014, Loughborough International Business student Ben Pocock tragically lost his life on flight MH17 when he was on his way to complete a study abroad programme at the University of Western Australia.

Without dwelling on the sadness of the situation, it's important for us to focus on how truly inspirational his parents have been; not just to Ben's course friends at Loughborough but also Ben's wider friend groups in Loughborough and Keynsham.

The positivity of Ben's parents, who are partially and completely deaf, has provided a huge amount of support for Ben's friends. This support has driven Ben's friends to raise funds for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as a way of showing our appreciation.

So far we have raised enough money to cover the cost of training one dog (£5000), however our current aim of £10000 will be enough to train and name a dog.

All your help towards reaching this target is hugely appreciated.

So far Ben's friends and colleagues have taken part in the following events:
