Story
Sightsavers believes that no one should be blind from avoidable causes, and that people whose sight can’t be saved should live with dignity and independence.
There are 39 million blind people in the world, 80% of blindness can be prevented or cured, and around 90% of visually impaired people live in the world’s poorest countries.
Sightsavers tackle the main causes of avoidable blindness, and work to educate, enable social inclusion, and help affected communities.
Watch the Sightsavers TV advert to see the faces of children when they receive a simple operation that enables them to see for the first time. It costs just £120, but that is beyond the reach of many in the poorest communities across the world.
