Story
I turn 40 in July 2018 and have decided to set myself the challenge of running an ironman. For those that don't know an ironman is a 2.4 mile (3.86km) swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.25km) bike ride, and finishing with a 26.22 mile (42.2km) marathon.
At the moment I'm planning on doing the Welsh or Mallorca Ironman in September 2018.
Between now and then I will complete in a number of events. The first of these is on the 23rd of October 2016 and is a 10km race. I have a half marathon in March 2017 booked too. I also plan on doing a sprint triathlon in June 2017 and a full triathlon in September 2017. Then the London marathon in 2018, and half ironman in June 2018, In amongst these I will complete a number of organised official cycle rides building up the distance...and somehow do lots of swims too.
If you want to give money per event that's great, or if you want to wait until the actual ironman then that's fine too.
I'v lost both my great Aunt to this horrible disease and a man who i looked up to everyday growing up - a friend of the family but more than a friend or "pretend uncle" to me. He meant more to me than words can say, I miss him so much. He was so brave and I never got the chance to let him know how much he meant to me. I hope I can do him proud with this challenge...and raise some money, to help others suffering, along the way.
