Story

We are looking forward to our wedding day immensely and feel very fortunate that you can share it with us.  For our wedding list, we have decided to donate to two very worthy causes about which we are passionate, one of which is Concern Worldwide.  Your generous donations are greatly appreciated.

When making your donation, feel free to use 'Anonymous' as your name for display purposes.  But please tick the box that allows Ian and Beth to see your e-mail address, so that we can send our thanks to you.

Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organisation dedicated to the reduction of suffering and the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world's poorest countries. Concern engages in long term development work, responds to emergency situations, and encourages national or international action on world poverty. Concern is currently working in 30 of the poorest countries in the world.

  • 2 million people made homeless by the tsunami in 2004
  • 9 million people in the Horn of Africa in urgent need of food aid
  • 15 million children in the develping world who have lost one or both parents to AIDS
  • 113 million children who have never received a day’s education
  • 1.1 billion people without access to safe drinking water, many of whom die every year from diarrhoea, malnutrition, measles, malaria and respiratory defects

To give you an idea where Concern Worldwide spends its donations:

  • £25 buys a goat, which provides crucial food, milk and natural fertiliser
  • £40 buys an emergency kit, including medicine, shelter, hygiene supplies and cooking utensils for an entire family
  • £71 buys a manual water pump to supply a whole village with fresh water
  • £105 buys enough school supplies to educate 50 children
  • £200 buys enough mosquito nets to protect 50 families from malaria
