Beth, Lev and Gee take on the three peaks challenge · 2 June 2016

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait

Story

Since my dad was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour 3 years ago (and whilst I can't believe the time has past so fast) fundraising for the Brain Tumour Charity has been something I have really wanted to do.

Over 9,500 people are diagnosed with a primary brain tumour each year. Whilst this is a lot, relative to tumours or cancers occurring elsewhere in the body, brain tumour diagnoses are rare and complex. At present, there are known to be over 130 different types of brain tumour, each with differing biological characteristics and consequently differing side-effects and the need for various treatments.

In my experience, with so many variations in the characteristics and symptoms of brain tumours, a diagnosis is not always as fast as hoped. My dad suffered for a pretty rough 2 years before his tumour was found. But the treatment and care he received in the whirlwind as soon as he was diagnosed was absolutely outstanding.

Seeing my dad back to being so fit and jolly it's sometimes easy to forget how lucky we really were, and it is for this reason I would really like to raise awareness of brain tumours and help to fund the very critical research that will make a real difference to the brain tumour community.

... And that's where the three peaks challenge comes in!

Myself and my two little adventure queens, Beth May and Lev, will be hiking the three National peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) in 24 hours on the 3rd June 2016. Whilst walking 24 miles in 24 hours is going to be our little mission, the main man Geoff himself will be driving the 462 mile journey to get us to each of the mountains through the night as his little tribute.

Think this challenge could be a tiring one for all of us, so please if any of you are able donate any amount of money to this fantastic cause we would be so greatful! Any help to reach our fundraising target and motivate the three of us to complete the challenge within the 24 hour limit would be absolutely fantastic :)

Thank you so much for visiting our just giving page :) Becky, Beth and Lev X
