Most people in Australia have some experience with anxiety and depression, whether it is personal or via family, friends or work colleagues.
In fact, 1 in 5 women in Australia will experience depression and 1 in 3 will have anxiety during their lifetime. For men, 1 in 8 will experience depression and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety.
The good news is that, just like physical illnesses, depression and anxiety can be treated. The sooner a person seeks help, the sooner he or she can recover.
beyondblue’s work is aimed at achieving an Australian community that understands depression and anxiety, empowering every person, at any life-stage, to seek help.
beyondblue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to increase awareness and understanding of depression, anxiety and suicide prevention in Australia and reduce associated stigma.
We work across a range of settings and bring together expertise in order to provide information and programs to support those affected by depression and anxiety, and improve the mental health of every person in Australia.
