The Bicycles For Uganda team has had an amazing year of making
the idea happen and raising funds. with all your support, commitment
and contribution, we have gone beyond our target for the raising of money.
The project altogether raised £7000+ (280 bikes) with donations still coming
in… we are hoping to reach £10000! Now we are ready to rock and roll and
take the project to Uganda.
Hannah Broecker and Umisha Gheewala will be taking a lead in the
implementation
process with support from Sewa International, NHSF, Lions club, UNHCR and the
MP of tororo and possibly local charities there.
Really a great big thank you for everyone who has given the project
a push in the right direction …it is amazing to see the final results!
We are committed that the money is used most effectively and are working
out the logistics currently.

A bicycle can radically improve the way of life for a family in rural Uganda. It can provide a sustainable source of income and also be an invaluable means of local transport.
We will be working with the UNHCR (UN High Commission for Refugees) to ensure that the most needy families are provided for.
Our target is to raise £7000 for 250 bicycles.
Your participation will make a difference and bring smiles to the lives of many.
So far we have raised approximately £4000!!!
OUR NEXT EVENT…
We are getting a group of around 20/25 friends and family together for a sponsored bike ride around London!!!
This is the plan…
18th March- Sunday
Meet at 1pm at Hyde park speakers corner (by the station). our route will be around the park as many times to reach 14 miles. this should take around 3/4 hours. You may need a little bit of training but you don’t need to be super fit, we will take it easy with breaks and the distance you want to do is flexible... what ever suits you.
We will have a pit stop everytime we go round the park which will be where the supporters who are not doing the bicycle ride will be having a picknick. On the way we will have breaks and make some hooohaaa.
After the ride we will go for a well deserved meal!
If everyone aims to get sponsored as much as you can we can raise a lot of money for the charity and reach our target.
I know some of you are already up for it which is great. Anyone else who wants to join the bike ride please check your diaries and let me know.
HOW TO REGISTER…
To register and confirm you will be there, email me at umisha26@hotmail.com to let me know along with your full home address, phone number to contact and any questions you may have.
The registration fee and cost of the Bike ride is £15 which you will have to donate online on www.justgiving.com/bicyclesforu
As soon as you can send me a confirmation and your the details I will post you a Bicycle for Uganda T-shirt and a pack which includes a sponsorship form, leaflets, some information to help you get sponsored and the plan for the day and any other bits and bobs.
If your looking for a good way to spend your Sunday and a bit of a challenge… it would be great to see you and have a laugh for the day.
