Big Game VII - World Cup Special Football! · 24 June 2018

London Friend is the UK’s oldest LGBTQ+ charity, providing mental health and wellbeing support since 1972. We offer help and advice to all LGBTQ+ people, providing one-to-one counselling, social support groups; plus, a specialist service Antidote that offers support around drugs and alcohol use.

Story

As you are all aware - the world cup is happening in Russia this time and it is no secret that human rights in the country aren't really up to scratch for what should be a festival of football, diversity and equality over a shared love of the game.

Therefore we have decided to pick London Friend as this games charitable cause, to support their excellent work within the LGB&T communities in and around London. In addition, and perhaps most relevantly, they have recently set up a new partnership working with Say It Loud Club to provide social, emotional, and educational support to LGBT refugees and asylum seekers many of whom have suffered persecution in their homelands as a result.

Please share this with your loved ones and try to help us add anything extra to the already kind donations that the players have made and help us all give at least a small middle finger to discrimination in Russia through at least this game of football.

Thanks and love you all,

Robo and Mike
