BRFC Hippos Coronation Cycle to Cornwall

Story
On 3rd May, a team of 5 cyclists from Bournville Rugby Club ( Tim Lang, Dom Stokes, Duncan Berry, Richard Brighton and Mike Le Quelenec ) will be setting off from the Midlands to cycle to sunny Cornwall with the aim of arriving in Bude on Saturday 6 May. The team are fund raising for the Dudley Group NHS Baby Bereavement Campaign in support of Tim’s colleague Mell following the devastating loss of her baby George last summer.
About the charity –
Our campaign began four years ago in 2018 to fund a much-needed
bereavement suite within our maternity unit, enabling families to spend precious time with their baby, in a soundproofed, private, and homely space away from the standard day to day of the maternity unit. In October 2019 following a number of significant donations and support from local families, businesses, and staff members this became a reality and our beautiful home from home suite was completed and ready for use.
Since it’s completion the bereavement suite has been used on hundreds of occasions and has provided many local families with the space and calming environment we desperately wanted to achieve.
We are now in a position of finding ourselves fundraising for a
second ‘multipurpose’ suite within the unit. We would also like to improve facilities for families undergoing early pregnancy loss, upgrade our counselling room for families having difficult conversations and overall look at how we can improve the pregnancy and baby bereavement services within Dudley.
We are extremely grateful for all of your support and contributions in a bid to make the surroundings for bereaved families within Dudley more comfortable and less distressing at a heart-breaking time.
