Deb's Cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats

Lands end to John O'Groats · 1 October 2021
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As a veteran I know and understand some of the difficulties adjusting to civilian life. I became part of Stepway many years later where I felt the value of the wide range of support available.
I’m also a survivor of severe brain injury which totally changed my life. One of the consequences of my brain injury is having neurological fatigue which affects me daily. I need a sleep in the afternoons and if I don’t have a sleep, it’ll affect how I function for a couple of days. Fatigue is experienced by everyone at some point after a period of physical or mental activity and is a signal from our bodies telling us to take a break.
‘Normal’ fatigue is time-limited and alleviated by rest, whereas ‘neurological’ fatigue following brain injury is present most of the time. It may not improve with rest and can significantly impact being able to do the daily activities I want to do.
So this challenge will be significantly more demanding for me than you might have originally thought/hoped!
This military charity works on behalf of both serving and served personnel. Having our country’s armed forces deployed to face another conflict, could trigger many issues including PTSD for veterans and I’m doing this mammoth ride to support Stepway support all military veterans now and in the future. Families are supported too.
Stepway charity is worth its weight in gold.
The charity needs community support to continue to function effectively to provide for many current and future veterans who need them.
This virtual Zwift cycling challenge is a humongous effort for me and to be truthful I’m not excited about it! But Im always up for a challenge, even without being beasted!
Please remember every little helps.
I’ll update you when I begin on 1st October 2021.
Thank you for reading my page.
