UPDATE 24th July 2009 - Please see below...

Hi

My name is Billie I am eleven years old and due to my Grandma being diagnosed with terminal cancer. I decided I wanted to do something special and challenging to help other people in the same dreadful situation. My Grandma is very special to me who I love very much and like so many people who are affected by Cancer I would like to raise as much money as possible for a very just cause.

I am going to kick off the fundraising by riding the 173 Miles of Hadrian’s Cycleway from Ravenglass to Tynemouth starting on Saturday 2nd May 2009 and finishing on Bank Holiday Monday 4th May 2009.

I am aiming to do this ride over three days, so will be riding over 55 miles a day and I am determined to finish the route on day three.

My Dad will be joining me on the ride and my Mum and little brother Jamie along with my Uncle Paul will follow in the support vehicle.

Fingers crossed and health permitting I am hoping my Grandma will be able to meet me at the finish in Tynemouth.

I know this is going to be a hard ride but the pain and suffering will be nothing compared to the people who have Cancer and how my Grandma felt during treatment in hospital.

I would like to raise as much money as possible and I am aiming for a target of £1000 but would like to raise as much as possible for Cancer Research.

Thanks to all who donate or pledge money to my little crusade against cancer, please leave a message of support for me! I will be leaving updates on how its going.

‘Grandma this is for you and I hope I make you proud’

With love

Update Sunday 19th April 2009

I just wanted to give everyone an update on my training and fundraising.

WOW I want to thank everyone who has helped me reach and then pass my starting target of one thousand pounds for cancer research. It has been a busy weekend and the page will be updated once all money has come in but I think we should have reached the two thousand pounds by next weekend, which is unbelievable as that is double what I set out to raise. Thanks must go to all who have already sponsored me online and also on the sponsor forms I am touched that so many people have faith in me which makes me very humble.

Training is going well and have done 56 miles on one ride without any problem up to Moffat and back (Dad managed it as well)! It is now only two weeks left and am just hoping the weather will be kind to me but if it rains it rains, please Mr Sun shine for me!

As I write this I have just thought in two weeks I hopefully will have completed day 2 and will be looking forward to the last day down to Tynemouth. I am also happy that family and friends are going to come to the route and finish to cheer me on.

Been with my Grandma today and she is so proud of me which is really nice and got a lovely hug x

I was also taken back when a young girl at holiday camp said she wanted to be like me when she grows up and I am her heroine, all I hope is my crusade does a little bit to raise some money for a great cause!

Anyway its Sunday night and back to School for me, lol I wonder if they would just let me ride my bike as practice!

With love
