UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation raises funds for equipment, building projects and research across all of the UCLH NHS Foundation Trust hospitals. The projects that we support are diverse and varied and ensure that UCLH is able to remain at the forefront of patient care and medical research.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online.

Bill Preest died on 19 October 2005 aged 37 of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) caused by an irregular heart rhythm.  He left a wife, Helen, and 2 children Lauren and Oliver, then aged 2 and 3.

We are running for The London Heart Hospital.  We have been assured by UCLH that our funds will be directed straight to Professor William McKenna who has been pioneering research into the condition and the genes that cause it.  In particular, the hospital is trying to establish the exact mutant gene that killed Bill in order that they can ensure his children and other family members are protected from the same condition.   This research helps all families in the same or similar situation.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: University College London Hospitals Charitable Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Our target is to match last year's donations so please sponsor us now!

Jane Preest (Bill's mum)  is also going to do the challenge and at her tender age I think that's fantastic.   To top her efforts is the the lovely Lauren Preest (Bill's 6 year old daughter) who has also recently offered to keep her Nana company.  Let's hope Nana doesn't get asked to give Lauren a piggy back after the first 500 metres!  Anything is possible........
