Rat Race Dirty Weekend Burghley · 7 May 2016
About twenty mad staff are taking part in the Half Mucker Dirty Weekend Rat Race at Burghley in May 2016. This is 13 miles and 150 obstacles including mud pits, bales of hay and cargo nets. The staff do not profess to be fit athletes and it will be a team challenge to get us all back before dark...but we feel this is an integral part of our pupils learning and well worth the pain.
As part of a new build Birkett House School's charity event wishes to raise funds for immersive technology for use across school. The school is excited by the prospect of introducing new technology to students recognising the benefits of this learning tool for all pupils. Environments can be created such as supermarkets, which allow the opportunity to build up student confidence and awareness of noise and lights they are likely to encounter. Being able to set different environments could mean we can teach children to cross the road safely, familiarising them to traffic noises or indeed, walk them around the amazon jungle listening to animal calls.
