Story
For many reasons which I don't yet fully understand myself, I have signed up for the 2012 London Marathon, which will take place on the 22nd of April, and as Captain Obvious would like to point out, it's in London.
Above all however, there is a reason why I'm doing this, and that is to raise money and awareness for a great cause: The Children's Society.
The Children's Society helps thousands of vulnerable, less priviledged children and young people in England each year, by safeguarding young runaways, children at risk on the streets, disabled children and young refugees (for more info on how they do this please click on the link on the right).
My goal is to finish the gruelling 42.195km (yes, 42195m, that's A LOT!) in under 5 hours, and come as close as possible to the 4-hour mark.
I know this is not a record-breaking target time, but considering I have never run more than 10km, and as many other things in my life I've left it to the last minute (apparently it's nearly impossible to train for a marathon in 12 weeks), it will be a hardcore challenge. Trust me.
The odds may be against me, but my hopes are high, and I promise I will be running my heart out from now until race day.
You can follow my training progress by Attending my Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/169474979833933/.
Please help motivate me and support this great cause by donating generously. Any amount will make a difference to the Children.
