🎵 We are Blowsoc, the University of Nottingham's wind, brass and percussion society and we are very excited to present Online-aganza 2! During this time of uncertainty and isolation, we wanted to find a way to make music together and to share this with others to spread some cheer and positivity. Following on from the success of our original Online-aganza and several smaller ensemble-specific Online-aganzas, we decided to create another virtual performance and get some of our Alumni involved too!

🏹 After lots of requests from both members and Alumni we have decided to perform ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’, by Michael Kamen, arranged by Paul Lavender — a favourite of all Blowsoc tours.

💸 Sadly we weren’t able to go on our tour to Belgium this year and, like many other people, have had to stay closer to home. As such we really wanted to support a local charity to help them continue vital work in or around Nottingham.

❤️ Using a poll, our performers have decided to support Nottinghamshire Independent Domestic Abuse Services (NIDAS). They offer a family based approach for people affected by domestic abuse in the Mansfield and Ashfield areas. The aims of the organisation are to: Protect — Victims of abuse and support them to become survivors; Support — Families with their recovery process and agencies with specialist services; Prevent — Repeat incidents, serious harm and domestic homicides; Empower — Families to access services by raising awareness of domestic violence and abuse. More information about the charity can be found on their website http://www.nidas.org.uk/.

NIDAS (Nottinghamshire Independent Domestic Abuse Services) is a registered charity whose core purpose is quite simply to keep people safe from abuse. We focus our support to ensure that children and young people (CYP) are at the heart of everything we do, supporting them through family based interventions to understand what healthy relationships look and feel like, building confidence and increasing self-esteem. Complemented by our family court team who support women through complex legal processes and systems, ensuring their voices are heard during proceedings and advocating on their behalf. We support around 1,000 individuals and families each year from crisis-to-recovery using the following techniques: > Immediate support, crisis intervention, safety planning and risk assessments > 1-to-1 support, group work, outreach and community based activities > Telephone, email and online support > Healthy relationship workshops and training for the whole family > Signposting to other relevant services or agencies within our community Our aims are to: > Protect - Victims of abuse and support them to become survivors > Support - Families with their recovery process and agencies with specialist services > Prevent - Repeat incidents, serious harm and domestic homicides > Empower - Families to access services by raising awareness of domestic violence and abuse (DVA)
