BNP Paribas Real Estate Five Peaks Challenge

5 Peaks UK Challenge · 23 April 2015
From 11 - 14 September 2015, we will take on five mountains in less than 48 hours, in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.
We will embark from
base camp at sunrise to the summit of Snowdon and back before moving onto the
Lake District and the trials of Scafell Pike. This is followed by an
overnight drive to tackle Ben Nevis in Scotland at first light.
By evening, we will take a ferry across the Irish Sea and arrive in
Larne before being transferred by road to County Down and the attempt on Slieve
Dorne.
The final stage will see us take on another long drive through the
countryside to the West of Ireland in time for sunrise again when we
will ascend Carrantuohill to complete our race against time.
To summarise, that's 34,736 feet (5294 meters) to climb and
descend on the highest mountains throughout the British Isles, completing 21
hours of walking time through 60km of mountain
pathways...all within 48 hours.
The challenge is in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society - the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.
850,000 people live with dementia in the UK ...if we don’t take action this number is predicted to rise to over two million by 2051.
225,000 people develop dementia every year, that’s roughly one person every three minutes
1,340,000,000 hours were spent caring for people with dementia in 2014. That’s more than 150,000 years.
The challenge is an incredible test of stamina, both physically and mentally. A target of £25k has been set and we really need your support to help reach this goal for a fantastic charity!
