Boom Banger Rally · 5 October 2019

Raising funds for urgent roof repairs and emergency major fire safety installations in a children's hospice in Bucharest. We will be doing a banger rally from Chester to the The Arctic circle in a Volvo V 70 classic banger.

Story

Boom Bang Rally

Chris Samuels, Alistair Jones and Andrew Clouting are safely back from their drive to the Arctic Circle in Vera the Volvo with the ongoing aim of raising ten thousand pounds for Children in Distress. Despite failing brakes, a dodgy automatic gearbox and a 'now you see it, now you don't' speedometer they arrived safely with another 20 boombangers in Bodo and flew back on Sunday 13th October. With direct payments, cheques, cash and the JustGiving page they are close to their target and would like to thank all those who have supported them thus far.

Children in Distress was set up 30 years ago to help abandoned AIDS and HIV babies in Romania and continues to run St. Margaret’s Hospice in Bucharest offering respite, palliative and end of life care. Chris has been involved in so many ways since inception not the least driving over supplies from UK.

The Hospice have had to replace much of the roof after a collapse so we are wanting to help fund the £40k this and a new sprinkler system has cost and which is being paid for at present out of their main care budget putting it and services under severe strain.

Apart from the JustGiving page direct contributions can be made by cheque (payable to ‘Children in Distress’) to Chris Samuels at his home address, ‘Long View, Mannings Lane North, Hoole Village, Chester, CH2 2PB or by
bank transfer to ’Children in Distress’, RBS; sort 83-07-06; a/c no.10114023,
ref. Boom Bang.

Please continue to support Children in Distress.
