Story

7th October (life is returning to normal...)

The Challenge was fantastic! As a team of three we did exceptionally well despite the lack of manpower on some challenges. We won a rafting challenge and the blowpipe challenge! Despite the pain it was worth it. The ascent to the summit of Mount Kinabalu was exhilerating, the trekking through the deep forest was interesting as was the cycling uphill (!). I had a spectacular fall off my bike early on but escaped with minor cuts and bruises (battlescars!) unlike some who needed stitches and deep cuts glueing back together! It's safe to say that you HAVE to be fit for this and the training I put in (despite my injuries) was worth it. I have raised close to £3000 and would like to thank everyone who has helped me in some way. For pictures of the event and the mayhem after the challenge (nights in Kota Kinabalu and Brunei) you can see my facebook page or email me!

UPDATE 1ST SEPT 08. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR SUPPORT SO FAR. THIS HAS BEEN REALLY TOUGH. I HAVE HAD TO BATTLE INJURIES AND OTHER OBSTACLES AND COMMITMENTS (yes I have my finger in too many pies as I have been told ) TO GET THIS FAR....  THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT (especially to those who have assisted with events and activities :-)

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

In the UK, a startling number of young people face significant barriers in life: unemployment, homelessness and a lack of education to name a few. I am doing this to help all young people achieve and become the best they can be.. please help me in doing so.

There are more than one million young people in the UK not in education, employment or training. The Prince's Trust focuses its efforts on those people who need our help the most. Please help me to help them!

The Borneo Summit to Sea challenge is going to be really tough. Treking to 4101m over the first 2 days (starting at 3am) I will get a brief rest for breakfast before the first 50k bike ride into the jungle - which I am allowed a few hours to complete. In the following days I will cover a few hundred km's of difficult terrain on foot, in a raft, by bike and probably on my hands and knees.

I will need all my physical and mental strength to get me through tough and demanding treks at rather unsociable hours(!) travelling hundreds of kilometres using only my own physical power. The terrain will be the most demanding in the world, steep ascents to the summit of Mount Kinabalu at 4100 metres, biking through tropical sorroundings and contending with raging white water through the jungle rivers.

From mountain to beach, rainforest to raging rivers, I am taking on an extraordinary journey through the heart of this diverse tropical island, from the summit of Mount Kinabalu to the shores of the South China Sea. Here's a brief itinerary:

Biking and hiking at a maximum altitude of 1866m.
Hiking 7km, steep uphill at a maximum altitude 3272m.
An Ascent to the summit of Mount Kinabalu at a maximum altitude of 4101m.
Mountain biking across Sabah and biking 80km!
Cycling via unused logging trails through remote villages, alongside paddy fields, through plantations and farms.
Mountain biking and white-water rafting through Crocker Mountains.
Climbing steep hills on dirt roads through the deep jungle, plantations and villages.
Enduring a Triathlon from Padas River to the South China Sea.
And a final celebratory swim in the South China Sea if I have any legs or arms left!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Prince's Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
