Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!
Did you know? 5000 children die every day from drinking dirty water - the equivalent of 20 airliners filled with children lost everyday to an entirely preventable public health crisis.
For a gift of just £15 WaterAid can provide one person in Africa or Asia with a lasting supply of safe, clean water, sanitation and hygiene education.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: WaterAid gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now and help us save 200 lives!
Borut: Recently I started running marathons. At first it was a self-challenge. I wanted to know whether I can do what so many have done before me -- run 26.1mi, 42.2 KM -- and what so many have said was impossible. After months of training I ran my first full marathon in New York, on Nov. 2. I finished it, but it was a humbling experience. I decided to try it again. I ran my second marathon in Beirut, on Nov. 30. This was a much better run for me, and a better overall experience. Having proven to myself that it is possible, I want to turn my running into awareness raising. I want to see whether it is possible to use my running and your help to save lives. Paola: This announcement is probably shocking to most of you that I haven't seen in the last few months. I started running last summer to occupy myself while Borut trained and trained. I tagged along to Beirut for some tourism and somehow ended up running the marathon as well. Not having trained, or frankly ever run more than 10miles, it was a bit rough. So, I decided to train properly for another marathon and see whether it is possible to use my running and your help to save lives. I can't think of a better motivator than knowing that each step I take will help the world's poorest gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education.
THANK YOU!
